Officiated and Event Planning/Coordination Services for meaningful moments beyond rigid tradition.

Serving North Caroline and Beyond

Kindred Unions holds space for both beginnings and goodbyes, with equal reverence.

If you want a ceremony that feels intentional without being heavily religious, or an event that feels structured without rigidity, you’re in the right place. At Kindred Unions, we support life-marking moments of all backgrounds and spiritual paths with calm guidance and steady care. From crafting ceremonies that reflect your values to coordinating the flow of the day, everything is handled with clarity, respect, and presence.

We hold one simple belief at the heart of everything we do: meaningful moments deserve purposeful intention, not forced expectation. That's why you can trust us to place your story and wishes first, with tradition serving you rather than overshadowing what matters most.

ABOUT ME

There are a handful of things in life that I’ve always loved: writing, organizing, designing, and planning. Those passions have shaped my hobbies and the way I move through the world, which naturally led me into this field.

I began my journey in the event industry in 2016, wide-eyed and full of ambition, offering coordination services and travel aid while actively networking and participating in events as a member of the Association of Bridal Consultants.

During my first four years, life whispered subtle hints that it wasn’t yet my time to shine. I tried to push through, but in 2020 I had no choice but to set down my Event Planning hat and focus inward; on home, stability, and, most importantly, myself.

And I did just that.

Five years passed in what feels like a breath. In that time I learned to listen to my soul and found my own voice, identity, and sense of peace. Now, I return to this work with renewed purpose: to share that calm with others as they move through their own meaningful milestones.

Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a ceremony or gathering often begins with a few quiet questions, shaped by the moment and the story behind it. Here are some of the ones we’re asked most often, shared to bring clarity and ease as you begin your journey with Kindred Unions.

What makes Kindred Unions Unique?

Kindred Unions exists at the intersection of ceremony and care.

Rather than offering a single service or focusing on only one season of life, Kindred Unions supports people through meaningful transitions across the full arc of experience. This includes wedding officiating and ceremony design, planning and coordination support, memorial and end-of-life ceremonies through From Embers to Earth, and travel logistics that support gatherings taking place away from home.

What makes this approach different is continuity.

The same values guide every offering, whether the moment is celebratory, transitional, or reflective. Words, structure, pacing, and presence are shaped with the understanding that life does not move in neat categories. Joy and grief often exist side by side, and both deserve to be held with intention and clarity.

In addition to ceremony and coordination, Kindred Unions also supports the practical realities that surround meaningful gatherings. This includes travel logistics such as guest accommodations, room blocks, and arrival considerations, allowing couples and families to remain focused on the moment rather than the mechanics behind it.

By offering officiating, planning support, memorial services, and travel coordination under one umbrella, Kindred Unions creates a steadier, more human experience. Clients are not asked to separate logistics from meaning, or emotion from organization. Each gathering is approached with both practical awareness and deep respect for what the moment carries.

The goal is not performance or perfection, but steadiness. Space that feels grounded. Support that adapts to what is actually happening, not what is expected to happen.

Do you honor all types of unions and belief systems?

Yes!

Kindred Unions proudly serves LGBTQ+ couples and partnerships across a wide spectrum of beliefs, traditions, and personal worldviews and identities. Some ceremonies are rooted in faith. Others are secular, interfaith, spiritual without structure, or entirely personal. What matters is not the category, but whether the ceremony reflects the people standing in it.

Do you travel outside of Alamance County?

Absolutely!

While Kindred Unions is based in Graham, North Carolina, we serve couples and families throughout the state and are open to traveling to destination locations for meaningful celebrations and gatherings.

Whether local or farther from home, each celebration is approached with the same steady presence and care. Travel details such as mileage, lodging, and timing are discussed during your consultation so expectations are clear and the experience remains well supported from the start.

What is the average price to expect when hiring a wedding professional?

Pricing for wedding professionals varies based on location, scope, and the level of support involved. Some services are simple and brief. Others require extended planning, coordination, or a deeper level of customization.

In North Carolina, officiant services often fall within the $300–$800 range, while coordination support typically begins around $1,000 for professionals and increases with guest count, timeline complexity, and on-site needs. More personalized or experience-driven services may be priced higher to reflect the time, preparation, and responsibility they carry.

At Kindred Unions, pricing is shared clearly and thoughtfully. Each offering is structured with intention, and full details are available on our service pages so you can make informed decisions without pressure. The goal is to create something that feels both meaningful and sustainable, honoring the moment without adding unnecessary strain.

How far in advance should we book?

Timing depends on the service and the season. For weddings, reserving your date six to twelve months in advance is often best, particularly for spring and fall weekends. Smaller gatherings, elopements, or weekday ceremonies may require far less lead time.

That said, not every moment arrives with advance notice. If your date is close, reach out. When availability allows, Kindred Unions will always aim to meet the moment with steadiness and care.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS...

"Working events with Kindred Unions has always been an amazing experience! Seeing the thought and effort Ellie, the owner, puts into every event truly shows their dedication to make every moment special. Whether it’s a big wedding ball, or a small get together celebrating your union, Kindred Unions will make sure your event is a day you will cherish for years and years to come!"

Dinah O.

"...Prior to the event, any coordination questions I had, [Ellie] answered within minutes of me sending her an email. And the day of the event, everything was set up and ready for us like she said it would be.....and this is usually not the case! I’m really looking forward to working with her again."

"Elizabeth was wonderful as our wedding Day of Coordinator. Our wedding was very unconventional, with many moving parts, as it was located on a family farm in a rural area.

Elizabeth did a great job talking through the details with me before the wedding, asking the right questions, following up with all the venders, and being available to jump in and help with everything that was needed. She was kind, professional, and grounded through the chaos that comes from a homegrown, do it yourself wedding. She helped my vision and dream for this day come true! I highly recommend her company for your event!"

Mary S

"Kindred Unions was an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding. Their communication style was thoughtful and well-organized, which made the planning process seamless. They were extremely detail-oriented, ensuring that every aspect of the ceremony was executed flawlessly. The officiant brought a beautiful, heartfelt touch to the service, making it a truly special and memorable occasion for us. I would highly recommend Kindred Unions to any couple looking for a wedding officiant who will go above and beyond to make your day perfect."
